I assisted Dr. Stapleton with the mosquito survey over the summer of 2012.I Investigated mosquito sightings, and determined causes of infestations, and collected samples of eggs and larva to take back to the lab to grow in chambers, so that we could identify them.We also put mosquito traps in various locations around Little Rock and collected the mosquitoes and determined genus and species. We mapped out the locations of where each genus and species were found and analyzed the data.

I have assisted Dr. Baltosser in the lab at UALR for 4 semesters from 2012-2014 with a research project involving butterflies. For this position, I assisted in creating a catalog of over 10,000 butterflies and helping to organize statistical data such as DNA sequences and mapping of locations. I also assisted with pinning butterflies for identification and placement in the museum collection at school.

worked on my PhD research with Dr Scott Woolbright for over 3 years. I helped manage his lab and assisted undergraduates and other graduates with experiments.

I used a metagenomics approach to try to identify biotic factors associated with harmful algal bloom events. I have sampled 6 water sources and collected data over a time series and analyzed these data. I learned how to use a Multi-probe system to measure the physical parameters such as pH, temperature, etc.

I also worked on a side project with Dr. Jeremy Chamberlain involving vitellogenesis in water snakes. I compared the fat allocation differences between a water sources with an abundance of food verses water sources with very little food in order to see what kinds of effects it has on vitellogenesis. I worked in the lab by extracting lipids from organs using the Soxhelt extraction method, which involves using an organic solvent to remove the lipids from dried snake organs. To analyze this data set I used the R platform and ran an ANCOVA with Julian date and female body mass as the covariates. An ANOVA was also completed to look at population differences in reproduction and storage.

I spoke at the Ecological Society of America’s annual meeting and the Association of Southern Biologist' annual meeting about the vitellogenesis project.

I am familiar with methods such DNA extraction in water, plants, and soil, PCR, plating and counting bacteria, field sampling of water, plants, and soil, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Soxhelt extraction of lipids and a variety of other laboratory techniques.I am proficient in various types of software such as Word, Excel,Sharepoint, R, ImageJ, Clustal, JModel, MEGA, Blast, Phylip, Bioedit, MUSCLE, and several others.I taught (Biology 2403) Zoology lab for 4 semesters, I also taught (Biology 1401) General Biology for 3 semesters and (Biology 1400) Environmental and Evolutionary Biology for 1 semester and Anatomy and Physiology (Biology 1411) for 1 semester.I started the Arkansas POD or chapter of 500 Women Scientist and created and maintain the Facebook page for our division.

My dissertation was going to focus on several aspects of biology including vitellogenesis in water snakes and how lipid allocation is affected according to prey size availability. I was also looking at diatoms in soil to examine variation in different habitats. However I did not complete my PhD but did gain 4 years of lab experience I can extract DNA from any medium an run a gel on it, do chromatography, western blot. In one of my classes in I used agrobacterium to introduce a bacterial gene then we used PCR to make sure the gene was inserted into the tobacco plant.

I was Inducted into Phi Kappa Phi honor society and given a medal for being in the top 10% of my graduate school in January 2017 and was elected student vice president. My first semester I assisted with a project involving water quality and ecological genetic analysis.
